Strip Club in North Bay Village

October 7 at 6:30 PM there is a meeting of the Planning and Zoning Board with one item on the agenda - considering an application to build a five story building at 1415 JFK Causeway, adjacent to Channel 7, with three floors of parking and two floors of commercial space.

Isle of Dreams, developer Scott Greenwald's company, is the applicant.

Not coincidentally is the fact that this obscure lot is the only place in North Bay Village where a strip joint, euphemistically called a "Gentlemen's Club", is allowed under our current zoning.

Also not coincidentally is that Scott Greenwald has donated $500 each to Rey Trujillo and Eddie Lim. Eddie Lim is on the Planning and Zoning Board and I hope he plans to recuse himself from the item.

We've been here before. Vice Mayor George Kane attempted to push through a strip club at the restaurant Barchetta's, only to fail to pass when the citizens let it be known loud and clear that North Bay Village does not need one more sleazy deal.

The people showed up last time and it's important we do it again.

The meeting is Thursday, October 7, at 6:30 PM at the school.

  1. I stumbled across your blog on the web, after deciding to do some research on the candidates for the elections.

    Reason being:
    1. I don't know anything about the candidates
    2. Both mayoral candidates showed up at my doorstep the last 2 nights, asking for my support

And I have a few questions:
    1. Where can I find more info about the candidates? (besides FB & website)
    2. Are there plans to bury the utility lines?
    3. What is going on with Barchetta's?

I recently moved back to the neighborhood last month and after reading your blog - I can't believe this is still going on in NBV. I purchased my home in 2003, lived in it until 2007, rented it out, and now I've returned to what seems to be the same mess. Not the island lifestyle I envisioned...

Every time I drive over the bridge from Miami into NBV, I feel a sense of serenity, peacefulness, and Joy of living in a quiet island community. I prefer to keep it that way, SO KEEP THE BOOTY OUT OF TREASURE ISLAND/NBV.

I strongly oppose any type of club or gentlemen's club built near my home. I enjoy walking everywhere - to dinner, the market, gas station, etc.... As several other members of the community, enjoy walking around in peace and enjoying the island breeze. I can't imagine walking over to the Hess to buy ice cream and running into strippers & intoxicated men.

Keep it Classy North Bay Village.... Keep it Classy!!!
